Tifo display: Uruguay vs Venezuela

Two giant banners will be unfurled prior to the Uruguay vs Venezuela World Cup qualifying game in Montevideo later today. The banners will be displayed in the Amsterdam and Colombed stands of the Estadio Centenario.


The initiative was brought up by representatives of Nacional and Penarol supporter groups who raised money to fund the project.

The banners were made in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and have arrived in Montevideo ahead of today's game.

One will feature the Uruguayan flag while the other will read "Dueños de America" (Owners of America) and will feature the image of the 15 Copa America wins and two World Cups.

The game at the Centenario has been declared a sell-out, and with 30,000 tickets already sold for next weeks qualifier against Peru, another sell-out is surely on the cards.
