The first Uruguayan to move this transfer window was Cristian Rodriguez, who joined Atletico Madrid from FC Porto on a four-year deal. Rodriguez has had a troubled time at Porto in the past year or so and this move offers the opportunity to breathe some life back into his career. Rodriguez is still only 26 years of age and is yet to live up to his massive potential. Whether he can do it at Atletico, well we will just have to wait and see.
Gaston Ramirez is hot on the lips of a lot of major clubs it seems but the press seemingly think it is Manchester City who are most interested. Tottenham and Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the Bologna star, and surely the latter would be the most desirable option for himself with Suarez & Coates already at the club. Wolfsburg, Juventus and a Spanish club are also said to be interested though. Where he ends up will be very interesting to say the least.
Inevitably Luis Suarez has also been in the headlines, with recent reports suggesting he is keen on joining Uruguay teammate Martin Caceres at Serie A champions Juventus. To be fair though, Caceres quotes say Suarez has asked him about Juventus and nothing more. And when you bunk with one another surely you are bound to ask what the club you play at is like. Surely Caceres has also asked Suarez what Liverpool is like.
Suarez's strike partner for Uruguay, Edinson Cavani, is more likely to join Juventus, but I personally believe that remains still a slim possibility of actually happening. It has been documented that Juventus are interested in the Napoli forward but the club will do everything in their power to keep their star forward, who is arguably one of the best strikers in the world at this moment in time.
I will bring you more news as it happens!
